Training Services

Making the right maintenance decisions depends on more than having the right equipment. It depends on the people using it understanding what they are seeing, why it matters, and how to act on it. Baseline RTS delivers instructor-led training that builds that understanding in a practical, site-relevant way, covering thermal imaging, ultrasonic detection, acoustic imaging, and thickness measurement.

Courses are available for new users, developing practitioners, and experienced personnel who need refresher or application-specific guidance. On-site delivery is available across the UK and internationally.

How Training Is Delivered

All Baseline training is instructor-led and built around real plant conditions. Where courses are delivered on-site, they use your assets, your operating environment, and the kinds of faults your team is actually likely to encounter. This is not classroom theory delivered from stock images. It is practical, applied learning designed to translate directly into better inspection work.

Participants are encouraged to speak directly with the instructor before booking. There is no sales handover.

Thermography Training

Baseline’s thermography training is designed for maintenance and reliability engineers, electrical engineers and technicians, facilities and energy managers, and teams introducing or improving thermography as part of a condition-based monitoring programme.

The course covers safe inspection of live electrical and mechanical assets, fault identification and severity assessment, and the production of clear, defensible thermography reports. Training is guided by ISO 18436 principles and delivered by an instructor with extensive real-world experience.

Courses are available as a one-day foundation or a two-day inspection and reporting programme. For those requiring formal accreditation, Baseline offers Category 1, 2 and 3 Thermography qualifications accredited through ITC, Mobius and BINDT, in conformance with ISO 18436, available both on-site and off-site.

Ultrasonic Detection Training

Ultrasonic detection training from Baseline covers compressed air and gas leak identification, steam trap and valve assessment, bearing lubrication decisions, and structured data collection and trending. It is suited to reliability and maintenance engineers, energy managers, and teams expanding an existing condition monitoring programme.

The course is structured across up to three days. Day one covers fundamentals and applications. Day two addresses data collection and trending. Day three provides programme support and is available as an optional addition. Each element is built around hands-on use of ultrasonic equipment and practical guidance on reporting and alarm levels.

Category 1 and 2 Airborne and Structure-borne Ultrasound qualifications are available in adherence with ISO 18436.

Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge Training

For inspection and maintenance engineers, asset integrity teams, and organisations looking to formalise their corrosion monitoring, Baseline’s thickness gauge training focuses on accurate measurement even through coatings, correct calibration and probe selection, and building repeatable inspection routines.

A common source of unreliable thickness data is not the equipment itself, but the way it is being used. This course addresses that directly, covering the measurement errors that most frequently affect results in the field and how to avoid them. Participants complete hands-on measurements on real assets, work through calibration exercises, and receive guidance on datalogging and software use to support ongoing monitoring programmes. The course is typically delivered as a one-day on-site programme.

Acoustic Imaging Training

Acoustic imaging training introduces visual sound mapping as a method of rapidly locating multiple faults from a safe distance, including in noisy industrial environments. Where traditional point-based ultrasound requires methodical scanning of individual areas, acoustic imaging cameras produce a real-time visual overlay of sound sources, allowing teams to cover more ground quickly and capture clear evidence of faults without needing to approach live or hazardous assets.

The course is particularly relevant for reliability and maintenance engineers, energy managers, electrical teams inspecting live assets, and sites managing large compressed air or gas networks. Participants gain practical experience with camera operation through live demonstrations and real-time inspections, with guidance on data capture and reporting to support maintenance decisions. Training is delivered as a one-day on-site foundation course.
